A Dock for Windows 11: replace the taskbar with a real Dock
Windows 11 has no Dock: the taskbar can only centre its icons and never leaves the bottom of the screen. A real Dock takes an app that draws its own and hides the taskbar. PrimoDock does that and keeps the Windows Start menu and tray where you expect them.
What the Windows 11 taskbar lets you change
In Settings › Personalization › Taskbar you can:
- Align the icons left or centre, under Taskbar behaviors.
- Hide the taskbar automatically.
- Hide the Search, Task view and Widgets buttons.
- Pick which icons show in the tray, next to the clock.
What it does not let you do
- Move the taskbar to the top or the sides. Windows 11 removed that option.
- Group apps by context, like work and home.
- Show live information, like the song playing or today’s calendar.
- Change how it looks beyond light, dark and an accent colour.
What a Dock adds
- Workspaces: work, home and focus, each with its own apps. Switch with a shortcut, the mouse wheel or the dots on the bar.
- Widgets that open: calendar, weather, music, battery and Claude usage, among 31. They sit in the bar like an app and open a panel in one click.
- Themes: Liquid Glass, Paper, Neon and the seasonal Halloween and Christmas ones.
- Ready-made icon packs, in one click, and IconStudio to draw your own.
- A pet on the bar that runs when the PC is busy and naps when it is quiet.
Start and the tray stay put
PrimoDock’s Start button opens Windows’ own Start menu, and battery, network and sound sit in the Dock along with the tray. Coming from the taskbar, there is nothing to look for.
How to install it
- Get the installer on the download page: x64 for Intel and AMD PCs, ARM64 for Snapdragon X and other ARM laptops.
- If SmartScreen warns you, click "More info" and then "Run anyway". The installer is not digitally signed yet.
- Open PrimoDock. The Dock takes the taskbar’s place and the 7-day trial starts.
- To get the taskbar back, just quit the app.
Got a Mac too?
The same licence activates PrimoDock on 1 Mac and 1 PC, with the same themes and the same icon packs. See how to customise the Mac Dock.
